Chongqing Technology and Business University

Formerly founded in 1952, Chongqing Technology and Business University (CTBU) was established through the merger of the former Yuzhou University and the former Chongqing Institute of Commerce in 2002. CTBU is a high-level financial and economic applied research university that covers disciplines such as economics, management, literature, engineering, law, science, and arts. The university carries forward and promotes the spirit of "Inclusive Strength, Self-improvement, and Nation-building" and adheres to the educational philosophy of "Quality-oriented, Characteristic-driven, and Talent-strengthening." It follows the motto of "Virtue, Broad Learning, Seeking Truth, and Innovation," seizing significant opportunities in higher education development. A comprehensive talent training system from bachelor's to doctoral degrees has been formed. The university covers an area of 2,896 acres, with three campuses, 19 teaching colleges, 2,406 faculty members, and over 30,000 students.

The university proactively engages in international cooperation, integrating into the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative. It fully leverages its disciplinary strengths and vigorously promotes internationalization. Currently, it has two non-independent Sino-foreign cooperative institutions approved by the Ministry of Education and one regional and country-specific research center registered with the Ministry of Education. It has established partnerships with 110 universities in 34 countries (regions), annually hire nearly 100 foreign experts from over 20 countries, and has cumulatively enrolled more than 4,000 international students from over 30 countries. It has established one Confucius Institute and one overseas language and culture center, and is a member university of the "Belt and Road" China-Poland University Alliance. It offers program classes with international speciality such as ACCA, CIMA, and CFA.

Programs Overview

Chongqing Technology and Business University(CTBU) implements the "Study at CTBU" initiative, meticulously designs a variety of programs tailored to the needs of international students, and endeavors to promote the steady progress of international student education in China. To date, CTBU has enrolled over 4,000 international students from more than 30 countries, being awarded as a "Model University for International Student Work in Chongqing." The programs like the annual International Cultural Exchange Month at CTBU (CTBU Study& Culture Tour in Chongqing) and “Discover Chongqing & Study at CTBU" attract nearly a hundred foreign faculty and students from partner universities to CTBU every year, solidifying its status as a distinctive and influential brand for Sino-foreign cultural exchanges.
Leveraging its strengths in financial and economic disciplines, CTBU aligns its educational offerings with the goals of the Belt and Road Initiative. It adopts a "Professional + Practical" training model to develop specialized courses that meet the needs of international students. Notable programs include Chongqing's first fully English-taught MBA program, International Tourism and Hotel Management, and Business Chinese classes established for international students. With a team of qualified Chinese language instructors, CTBU offers courses at all levels from elementary to advanced as well as preparatory programs for degree studies.
