Sichuan Fine Arts Institute

As a public full-time general undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education with the qualification of higher education enrollment, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute has the right to confer bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctoral degree. The Institute now has 11 secondary colleges, with about 8,000 students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs and international students. The Institute has Huangjueping Campus, an urban garden, and Huxi Campus, a poetic idyllic place, covering an area of 1106 mu.
Founded in 1940, the Institute is the only higher art school in Southwest China. In 1981, it became one of the first batch of master's degree and bachelor's degree conferring units in China, and was approved as a doctoral degree conferring unit in 2021. The Institute has two first-level disciplinary doctoral degree authorization points of Design and Art, one doctoral degree authorization point of Fine Arts and Calligraphy, and three master's degree authorization points of Design, Drama and Film Studies, and Landscape Architecture. At present, the provincial key disciplines are 100% covered in the discipline construction of the University, and 2 degree points of Fine Arts and Calligraphy and Design have been approved as the first-class disciplines in Chongqing, of which Fine Arts and Calligraphy is the pinnacle discipline. Marked by the excellent results achieved in the fifth round of disciplinary assessment and the national professional degree level assessment, the Institute's disciplinary construction has jumped to a new level.
The Institute endeavors to build a perfect system for training higher art talents. It enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad for its complete art education system, active academic atmosphere, outstanding artistic achievements, first-class school facilities and beautiful campus environment. It is also the cradle of China for cultivating high-level art talents and the major base for high-level art creation and academic research.

Programs Overview

Since Sichuan Fine Arts Institute began admitting international students, it has been offering higher education programs for international students, including Degree Programs at undergraduate (4-5 years) and master’s (3 years) levels, Non-degree Programs (12 months, including undergraduate general advanced studies programs), as well as short-term exchange programs (including short-term cultural exchange programs). SCFAI is a designated institution for the Chongqing Municipal People's Government Foreign Student Mayor's Scholarship Program, and also provides school-level scholarships to outstanding international students.
In recent years, SCFAI has admitted about 6 new international students each year, 90% of whom are degree-seeking students.
