Founded in 1940, Chongqing University of Technology is a key university under the major development plan of Chongqing, with a focus on high-level emerging engineering disciplines. The university currently has more than 30,000 students including 6,000 graduate students. It offers 70 programs in fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Advanced Materials, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Management, and Intellectual Property.

Our university adheres to a research orientation focused on "climbing to the highest peaks, drilling into the deepest depths, and advancing into the main battlefield." Our precision displacement measurement technology has reached an internationally leading level and is renowned as the "Chinese precision." We have established Chongqing's first and only research center for basic mathematics, and our new energy vehicle electric drive testing equipment has been widely applied in renowned automotive companies such as Changan Automobile Group and SAIC Motor Corporation.
We also follow an open education path of "joining into enterprises, stepping onto the global stage, and moving towards the future." We have engaged in extensive cooperation and exchanges with 69 universities and research institutions from over 20 countries and regions, including the United States, UK, France, Spain, Russia, South Korea, and Japan. We have established joint education programs and cooperation projects with institutions like Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and National University of Malaysia. Additionally, we took the lead to found the Intellectual Property University Alliance, with member universities primarily from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. We have also built high-level collaborative innovation platforms, such as the Joint International Cooperation Laboratory of Ministry of Education, National University Science Park and commercialization and transfer base for scientific achievements. Over the past two years, our patent commercialization contracts have ranked among the top 50 Chinese universities, and we ranked 7th in China on the list of single scientific achievement transformations of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Our work has been recognized as one of the top 10 examples of China's industry-university-research collaboration.
Since 2000, Chongqing University of Technology has been admitting international students to participate in higher education degree programs (including a 4-year undergraduate program, a 3-year master's program, and Chinese language courses for non-degree seeking students), as well as short-term exchange programs. The university is a member institution of the Mayor's Scholarship Program for International Students sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal Government, and it also offers university-level scholarships to outstanding international students.In recent years, CQUT has admitted over 1000 international students , 60% of whom are degree students.

The Mayor's Scholarship for Foreign Students of Chongqing Municipal People's Government is a special award established to attract outstanding foreign students to study in Chongqing.
