Chongqing University of Science and Technology（CQUST) is a full-time public undergraduate institution.The university has a strong focus on engineering and a balanced development in disciplines such as science, management, economics, law, humanities, and the arts. The university excels in fields such as oil and gas exploration and green development, as well as low-carbon metallurgy and advanced materials. In 2017, CQUST was authorized to confer master's degrees and in 2021, it received approval to establish doctoral degree programs, making a new milestone in its growth as an application-oriented research university.
The university is located in the heart of the Western (Chongqing) Science City. Chongqing University of Science and Technology (CQUST) has been approved to enroll international students since 2006, and offers bachelor degree education programs (undergraduate (4-years) and master's degree education programs (2-3years)), non- degree education programs (1 year Chinese language trainee program), and short-term exchange programs for international students. The university is a member of the Mayor's Scholarship Program for Foreign Students of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and also offers university-level scholarships to outstanding international students. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the university has enrolled students from France, Spain, New Zealand, Argentina, Belarus, Russia, South Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Afghanistan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Congo-Brazzaville, Congo (DRC), Colombia, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Laos, Thailand, Liberia, Rwanda, Malawi, Thailand and Vietnam. The scholarships that international students can apply for include the Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship and CQUST President Scholarship.
Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship:
This scholarship is established by the Chongqing Municipal Government and evaluated in accordance with the annual notices issued by relevant departments in Chongqing.
CQUST President Scholarship:
1. Non-degree international students
1.1 Freshmen scholarship for Chinese language training program
First prize: 8,000 CNY per person per academic year; Second prize: 5,000 CNY per person per academic year; Third prize: 2,000 CNY per person per academic year. The category shall be depended on the assessment result of applicants’ documents.
1.2 Program Scholarship
Implementation in accordance with specific agreement.
2. Degree international students
2.1 Freshmen scholarship for bachelor degree program
The category is available to all the incoming freshmen of bachelor degree program, and the amount is 9,000 CNY per person per academic year.
2.2 Academic scholarship for bachelor degree program
First prize: 12,000 CNY per person per academic year, and the recipients’ percentage of total self-support registered international undergraduate students is within 15%; Second prize: 9,000 CNY per person per academic year, and the recipients’ percentage of total self-support registered international undergraduate students is within 50%; Third prize: 5,000 CNY per person per academic year, and the recipients’ percentage of total self-support registered international undergraduate students is within 35%.
The category shall be depended on the assessment result of applicants’ academic record and daily performance.
2.3 Freshmen scholarship for master degree program
The president scholarship category shall be depended on the assessment result of applicants’ documents, and the amount is from 15,000 CNY to 20,000 CNY per person per academic year.
2.4 Academic scholarship for master degree program
First prize: 20,000 CNY per person per academic year; Second prize: 18,000 CNY per person per academic year; Third prize: 15,000 CNY per person per academic year. The category shall be depended on the assessment result of applicants’ academic record and daily performance.
2.5 Outstanding International Student Scholarship
Outstanding International Student Scholarship is reviewed especially for registered degree international students with outstanding performance, selecting 10 students in each academic year. The amount is 10,000 CNY per person per academic year.
The validity of the president scholarship is one academic year.
