The Chongqing Institute of Foreign Studies (CIFS), a fully accredited private undergraduate institution authorized by the Ministry of Education of China to grant bachelor's degrees, boasts a sprawling campus spanning over 1,500 acres and a student body exceeding 24,000. With two campuses located in Yubei and Qijiang, the Institute comprises 12 secondary schools offering 41 undergraduate majors across 6 disciplines: literature, education, economics, management, arts, and engineering.

The university offers higher education degree programs (four-year undergraduate programs) and non-degree programs (six to twelve months, Chinese language courses for visiting students) to international students. It is a designated institution for the Mayor's Scholarship Program for Foreign Students of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and also provides university-level scholarships to outstanding international students studying in China.
Currently, the university admits international students for degree programs in International Economics and Trade and International Business, as well as Chinese language courses for visiting students under the International Chinese Language major. The university has hosted over eighty international students from more than twenty countries until now. Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship
In order to attract outstanding international students to study in Chongqing, the Chongqing Municipal People's Government has specially established the "Chongqing Municipal People's Government Mayor's Scholarship for International Students". For undergraduates: RMB 25,000 per student per academic year. For graduate students: RMB 30,000 per student per academic year.
To apply for the Mayor's Scholarship, applicants must meet the following basic requirements:
1.Be non-Chinese citizens intending to study or currently studying for a degree at a university in Chongqing.
2.Be physically and mentally healthy, and abide by Chinese laws, regulations, and school rules and regulations.
