Chongqing Medical and Pharmaceutical College (CQMPC), founded in 1948, is one of China's first vocational college listed in the Building Plan of High-Level Vocational Schools and Majors with Chinese Characteristics. It has first-class teaching teams,and majors with high professional precision and strong competitiveness. The educational strength and talent training quality have been widely recognized by society. Since its establishment 76 years ago, CQMPC has trained more than 200,000 medical and health professionals.
The college has over 820 faculty members; over 30% of full-time teachers have senior titles, and more than 20% of full-time teachers have doctorates. The college has a group of outstanding teachers with highly recognized reputations, like National Famous TCM teachers and National “10,000 Talents Plan” Famous Teachers. The college offers 25 majors such as pharmacy, clinical medicine, stomatology, preventive medicine, nursing, medical laboratory technology, and Traditional Chinese medicine. According to the Golden Apple Ranking, the most influential ranking tool for Chinese vocational colleges, the competitiveness of medicine and health majors of CQMPC ranks the first among all vocational colleges in China.
CQMPC has more than ten modern on-campus training bases supported by Central and Chongqing municipal governments. There has 1 affiliated hospital, 1 co-constructed-and-managed affiliated-hospital, 17 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 20 teaching hospitals, and more than 100 off-campus practice bases.
CQMPC has deepened international exchanges and cooperation and achieved remarkable results in recent years. As a member of the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance, China-Thailand Vocational Education Alliance, and International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Vocational Education Alliance, the college has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 30 universities and institutions in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Ireland, Laos, Uganda, and other countries. The college runs 2 Sino-foreign cooperative education programs cooperated with Canada and Ireland and conducts overseas education programs in Uganda. Besides, CQMPC has initiated and carried out foreign aid project approved by the Ministry of Education, Silk Road Project of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Foreign Student Mayor’s Scholarship Program, project of International Characteristics of Chongqing and project of Inland Education Open-up Highland Construction. Currently. There are 117 international students on campus.
Since 2023, CQMPC has been admitting international students and offers higher education programs for international students, including Degree Programs at vocational education (3-year) and Non-degree Programs (1-2 months of short-term training programs). CQMPC provides school-level scholarships to outstanding international students.
In nearly two years, CQMPC has established a brand for students studying in China, named “Bayu Shizhen Institute of CQPMC” and continuously expanded the brand influence. CQMPC enrolls 60 international students with academic qualifications each year, studying clinical medicine or pharmacy, and enrolls non-academic international students according to the actual condition.. Currently, CQMPC has enrolled 154 international students from Laos, Papua New Guinea and Tajikistan, within which, 119 students are of academic qualifications, 35 students are of non-academic qualifications.
