Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering

Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering (CQVIE) is a full-time higher vocational school established by Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and supervised by Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. Founded in 1951, the school is a higher education, and National Demonstrative High-level and High-quality Vocational Institute with Chinese Characteristics and Specialized Construction Plan. The institute has 12 secondary faculties and departments, offering 57 higher vocational specialties. With more than 16,000 full-time students, CQVIE still accepts more than 200 students for international education and training and offers an average of more than 40,000 persons continuing education and training per year.
CQVIE boasts one teaching team at national level, three vocational education teachers' innovation teams at national level, eight national key programs, six national core programs, two national bases for cultivating "dual-qualified" teachers, two national production-oriented training bases, eight training bases funded by the central government, one national collaborative innovation center and one national special training base for "Online Learning Space for Everyone". There are also four national online quality vocational education courses and one national professional teaching resource library for vocational education, with 4 national teaching achievement awards. The library of CQVIE houses over 1.2 million volumes of print books, nearly 1.4 million electronic books, and over 40,000 electronic journals. Additionally, it has established a rich and sharing cloud platform with a database of vocational education resources.
CQVIE insists on opening up to the outside world, and upholds the international cooperation talent cultivation concept of “mutual understanding of civilizations, tripartite construction, and multi-dimensional dual cultivation”. Since 2016, the university has trained nearly 1,500 long-term and short-term international students and carried out technical services with more than 20 countries along the “Belt and Road”, including Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tanzania, etc.

Programs Overview

CQVIE began to enroll international students from 2016. In order to actively respond to the national “Belt and Road” initiative, CQVIE has carried out international cooperation with export-oriented enterprises such as ZTE Corporation and Group Six International Ltd. It has conducted short-term international student exchanges, full-time international students cultivation, technical services, and construction of Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institutions with more than 20 “Belt and Road” countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus etc.. More than 80% of the full-time graduates have joined Huawei and other Chinese-funded enterprises to serve the local economic development.
By 2024, CQVIE has provided a wide range of services to the local economy through the “Future of Africa” program and “Chinese Bridge” program of the Ministry of Education, the “Silk Road Program” of Chongqing Municipality, the Student Exchange Program of the China-Russia Cooperative School, and the cultural exchanges program of China-Thailand Vocational Education. CQVIE has trained more than 1,500 long-term and short-term international students, including more than 100 full-time students, covering such advantageous majors as modern mobile communication technology, mechatronics technology, Internet of things application technology, architectural engineering and tourism management.

Scholarship

Chongqing Education Commission will provide 3 to 5 Chongqing Municipal Government Mayoral Scholarships for foreign students each year according to the school's enrollment plan, and CQVIE will assess the students in a fair and impartial manner according to the admission interview test and HSK level, and submit it to Chongqing Education Commission for the record.
CQVIE sets up the President Scholarship for the international students, formulated the President Scholarship Management Measures of Chongqing Vocational Institute of Engineering for International Students. The students apply for the scholarship, and the secondary college, the student Affairs Office, the International Department and other departments base on the students’ examination results, school performance, class attendance, HSK level and other comprehensive assessment.
