Chongqing City Vocational College is an accredited institution by the Ministry of Education, sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and supervised by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. It is a full-time public higher vocational institution established in 1950 as the Chongqing Workers' Political School. The college has been recognized as an advanced unit for vocational education teaching reform in Chongqing and has been selected among the top 50 "Outstanding High Vocational Schools for Talent Cultivation", "Outstanding High Vocational Schools for Service Contribution", and "Outstanding High Vocational Schools for Industry-Education Integration" in the western region of China. Located at the "bridgehead" of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, the Western Vocational Education Base, the Chongqing Yongchuan National High-tech Zone, and the core area of the Big Data Industrial Park. The campus covers nearly 1000 acres with a building area of over 300,000 square meters. There are more than 14,000 full-time students currently enrolled. The college employs over 700 staff members, including more than 150 teachers with doctoral degrees, associate professors, and professors, and over 200 "dual-skilled" teachers. Additionally, there are more than 400 teachers with master's degrees or postgraduate qualifications. The college leads the establishment of the "China-Laos Vocational Education Development Community", with the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and the Department of Technical and Vocational Education of Ministry of Education and Sports, Lao PDR have jointly signed the "Memorandum of Cooperation on Supporting the Construction of the China-Laos Vocational Education Development Community". The college has built an international shared industry college with Laos, forming an international exchange and cooperation platform with "one college and four centers". The "Construction of Laos Shared International Industry College" has been selected as an international characteristic project in Chongqing. The college has developed 33 international courses and course standards for Laos, established 10 bilingual Chinese-Laos international courses and 17 course standards; developed 7 international vocational standards for Tanzania and 2 for Sri Lanka, and had 4 course standards certified and introduced by the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports. Students from Laos, Cambodia, Angola, Indonesia, and other countries have come to the college for academic visits and research, which are continuously enhancing its international influence.
Chongqing City Vocational College has been admitting short-term international exchange students since 2021, offering short-term training and exchange programs for international students in Chinese culture, new energy vehicles, drones application technology, and Chinese cuisine cooking, with training periods ranging from one week to three months. The college provides school-level scholarships for outstanding international students. Up to now, the college has cultivated and enrolled approximately 500 non-degree-seeking international students from Laos, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Angola, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
