Chongqing Youth Vocational & Technical College was founded in 1954 as the Chongqing Youth League School, changed into Chongqing Youth Management Cadre College in 1987, and turned into a full-time public regular higher educational institution with national enrollment in 2006. In 2016, according to the reform requirements of the central people’s group organizations, the college was transferred from the supervision of the Chongqing Youth League Municipal Committee to that of the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. It has several titles, such as a high-quality higher vocational college in Chongqing, a high-level specialty group construction unit in Chongqing, a role model unit in Chongqing, and a national pilot college for first aid education in colleges.
The college now has three campuses, Beibei Campus, Banan Campus, and New Banan Campus, and the main body of the college is located in Chongqing High Vocational City. The college has 7 secondary teaching schools and offers 37 majors and has constructed seven major specialty groups, with more than 14,000 students and more than 700 teaching staff in the college.
The college insists on opening up, actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative, and helps to promote the national strategy of the Western Development Drive in the new era. The college has carried out international exchanges and cooperation with universities in Belarus, Japan, Ethiopia, Germany, the United States, Thailand, and other countries. The college, BYD, and Chonburi Institute of Science and Technology jointly built a new energy vehicle talent training base in Thailand. Relying on the Mayor’s New Silk Road Scholarship Program and the Chinese Bridge Program, the college implements international cooperation programs such as intercollegiate exchange students, curricular training, academic upgrading, and overseas internships and employment. The college actively promotes the implementation of the “Chinese language + vocational skills + intangible cultural heritage program”, “cross-border e-commerce + China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu-Chongqing)” and other special education programs. The college has explored international two-way exchanges of students and international teacher training to create a new model project for vocational education overseas and to shape a new brand of international cooperation “Study Abroad at Chongqing Youth Vocational & Technical College”.

Chongqing Youth Vocational and Technical College (CQYVTC) has been working with international students since 2018, and has so far recruited a total of 38 international students to study at the school and participate in short-term exchanges of non-degree programs. In December 2018, the college recruited 9 international students from Thailand to participate in the 7-day “China-Thailand Vocational Education Alliance's First Batch of Tourism Skills Characteristics Specialized Training Camp”. “In November 2024, the school recruited 29 Thai cultural and tourism-related managers to participate in the 30-day “2024 Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor's Scholarship Silk Road Program-Thailand Digital Intelligence Cultural and Tourism Middle and Senior Management Talent Training Program”.
In the future, the university will continue to promote study abroad in China and carry out Degree Programs, Non-degree Programs and short-term exchange programs.
