Chongqing Vocational College of Finance and Economics is a full-time public higher vocational college established by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, registered with the Ministry of Education, supervised by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Education, fully funded by the government, and has the independent qualification to award associate degrees in general higher education. The school was founded in 1956, initially named Jiangjin Special Zone Commercial Workers School, to carry out cadre education and training; Full time vocational education was established in 1974; In 1983, it was renamed as Chongqing Second Finance and Trade School; In 2007, it was upgraded to a regular higher vocational college and renamed Chongqing Vocational College of Finance and Economics, offering higher vocational education. The school is located in Yongchuan District, the main urban area and western vocational education base of Chongqing. The school covers an area of 710 acres, with complete teaching facilities and equipment. The library has over 1.1 million books. There are currently over 12700 full-time students enrolled. The school has a strong faculty, with 401 master's and doctoral students and 129 associate professors or above.
The school currently has 7 secondary colleges, offering 38 full-time general vocational majors, including 3 undergraduate majors, 2 national level backbone majors, 3 municipal level backbone majors, and 2 provincial-level high-level professional groups. A hierarchical professional group development system has been formed, with the "Big Data and Accounting, Marketing" professional group as the leading group in the western region, the "Financial Services and Management, Tourism Management" professional group as the characteristic of Chongqing, and the "Customs and Foreign Trade Services, Computer Application Technology" professional group as the school level focus, featuring "two leading, two distinctive, and two key" aspects.
In April 2022, Chongqing Vocational College of Finance and Economics established the "the Belt and Road" E-commerce Rural Revitalization Institute in Laos. In March 2023, "Laos’ New Media Live E-commerce” and “Chinese+Vocational Skills" training projects have be launched. In September 2023, our school will enroll 30 international students with academic qualifications and adopt a "2+1" training model, which means that the first and second academic years will be trained at overseas educational institutions in Laos, and the third academic year will be trained in China. In September of the same year, our school officially began online Chinese language teaching for international students. These educated international students are expected to study in China in September 2025.
Our college has planned to enroll 60 international students from overseas branches annually, 30 of which are degree students.
