Formerly founded in 1952, Chongqing Technology and Business University (CTBU) was established through the merger of the former Yuzhou University and the former Chongqing Institute of Commerce in 2002. CTBU is a high-level financial and economic applied research university that covers disciplines such as economics, management, literature, engineering, law, science, and arts. Sichuan International Studies University (Chuan Wai or SISU for short), one of the first four state run foreign language colleges in China, sits in Shapingba District, Chongqing Municipality. It is a full-time university approved by the Ministry of Education and run by Chongqing Municipal People's Government. Carrying on the founding spirit of "unity, diligence, rigorous attitude and realistic approach" and abiding by the motto of "global vision, academic excellence", the university distinguishes itself with an international perspective, a focus on foreign language education, and a commitment to diversifying disciplines. The university has strategized pursuing qualitative development that prioritizes academic excellence, stresses international exchange and balanced development of all disciplines. The university has now evolved into a multi-disciplinary higher institution. In addition to the core discipline of foreign languages and literature, the university also offers doctoral, master, bachelor degrees and diploma programs in Chinese language and literature, journalism and communication, education, economics, management, law and other disciplines. As a public full-time general undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education with the qualification of higher education enrollment, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute has the right to confer bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctoral degree. The Institute now has 11 secondary colleges, with about 8,000 students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs and international students. The Institute has Huangjueping Campus, an urban garden, and Huxi Campus, a poetic idyllic place, covering an area of 1106 mu. Founded in 1940, the Institute is the only higher art school in Southwest China. In 1981, it became one of the first batch of master's degree and bachelor's degree conferring units in China, and was approved as a doctoral degree conferring unit in 2021. The Institute has two first-level disciplinary doctoral degree authorization points of Design and Art, one doctoral degree authorization point of Fine Arts and Calligraphy, and three master's degree authorization points of Design, Drama and Film Studies, and Landscape Architecture. Founded in 1940, Chongqing University of Technology is a key university under the major development plan of Chongqing, with a focus on high-level emerging engineering disciplines.
